Columbia, SC – The Honorable William “Bill” Hager, a state representative serving Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton, and Jasper residents in House District 122, has been appointed to serve as the newest member of the SC Education Oversight Committee (EOC). Hager was appointed by the Chairman of the House Education and Public Works Committee Rep. Shannon Erickson, to serve as her designee for the committee. Hager replaces Rep. Raye Felder on the EOC.
Born in Charlotte, NC, Hager graduated from The Citadel with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. First elected to the SC House of Representatives in 2022, Hager serves on the Education and Public Works Committee, Regulations and Administrative Procedures Committee, and the Speaker of the House’s Ad Hoc Committee for Workforce and Utility Modernization.
Hager is a board member of the South Carolina Alliance and is Chair of the Hampton County Gideons International. He is also a Deacon at Varnville Baptist Church. He previously served as a Board member of the Beaufort Exchange Club.
Hager is married to Elizabeth Jolly Hager and resides in Hampton, SC.
The SC Education Oversight Committee is an independent, non-partisan group made up of 18 educators, business persons, and elected leaders. Created in 1998, the committee is dedicated to reporting facts, measuring change, and promoting progress within South Carolina’s education system.
